Well First off let me say congratulations for taking the big leap into homeschooling your Child/children! Its an amazing journey and a sacrifice on your part to homeschool your children. I love having my kiddos home with me and knowing that their safe.
Now that you have your Why, The next step is to find out your state requirements. Each state has their own rules that they have set in place for homeschooling. I'm in Texas they have certain subjects that they want to be taught and that's it. The next major aspect in homeschooling is picking your curriculum. Before you deep drive into that ocean of books there are a few questions you'll want to ask yourself first. How much time do you have in a day to do school? Where are you going to do school at ? Are you going to be more hands on or out source and use online schooling? what is your budget looking like for supplies and books? For me and my schedule we can get most schooling done in a few hours. I have some subjects that I out source like math which comes with an online teacher and the same for science . Another aspect of picking out your curriculum is how does your child learn. Are they more visual do they need books with an audio option. That is one of the many joys of homeschooling, doing what works for you and your family. The finally Thing which I enjoyed was find a homeschool group. I found our group on Facebook. Another option may be to talk to your local library or church. This is a great way to find out what options and help you may have available in your local area.
